December 2023

As 2023 comes to a close, we are taking time to reflect on accomplishments that we had through the year as a small nonprofit organization (e.g., providing concrete needs to children and families, such as clothing, shoes, coats. Additionally, delivered school supplies to three schools in Northampton County).

Regardless of the amount of success received, we are very excited to share our accomplishments during 2023. We are very hopeful that 2024 will get brighter as we continue to show support to our clients. We continue to climb up the ladder of success and appreciate each journey that we take. We appreciate your continued partnership in our shared work.

There is no doubt that as a team pulling together that we will have the great gift of continuing to strengthen the organization and help clients who are in need to meet their self-sufficiency.

We look forward to a more transformative 2024 as we continue to ensure children and families that we serve are safe, healthy and connected.

Thank you for supporting New Day!! Because of you, we are motivated to continue our journey in serving our clients.

Have a safe time off with your families and friends during this holiday!!

With deep gratitude,

Moneefah Jackson

Executive Director

May Is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month was established in 1949 to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans’ lives and to celebrate recovery from mental illness. For the past 20 years, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has recognized Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) every May to increase awareness about the vital role mental health plays in our overall health and well-being. SAMHSA

For the next few weeks SAMHSA recommends the following actions, we can all participate in, to raise Mental Health Awareness.

Week 3: May 15-21

The focus this week will be on promoting acceptance and compassion surrounding mental illness. Language matters: let’s work together to use person-first language and avoid derogatory terms.

Key messages:

We play a part in one another’s mental wellness.

  • Language matters. The language we use to talk about mental health can either perpetuate prejudice and discrimination or promote acceptance and compassion. When it comes to mental health, words matter.
  • It is up to each of us to be a lifeline, sharing in a commitment to care for ourselves and those around us.
  • When we use open and compassionate language around mental health issues, we empower ourselves and encourage others to find the help they need.

Week 4: May 22-28

This week, the goal will be to encourage individuals to seek help if they need it, as well as showing the importance of supporting others by offering words of encouragement and celebrating small successes.

Key messages:

Let’s support each other and make it okay to reach out and seek help whenever we need it.

  • Be aware of the signs and symptoms of mental health issues so that we can all work together to support one another.
  • If you are worried about your mental health or are worried about someone you know, there are resources and people out there who are willing to help, no matter what your situation is.
  • Whether we share resources, encourage others to seek help or simply are there for someone when they need us, we instill hope and can help other to reach out when they need it most.

Week 5: May 29-31

The month will end by focusing on hope and positivity and supporting one another by sharing key resources during May and beyond.

Key messages:

No matter the situation, there is always help and there is always hope.

Although New Day In-Home TSS does not have a great amount of support to assist children and families with meeting their basic needs, we make every effort to help as much as we can to put a smile on their faces and assist them with living a healthier and more productive life.

Families are struggling to make ends meet each day due to the economy. The store shelves are emptier than ever before. Food prices have soared, and rent is increasing which leaves family wondering what they will do for the next day.

Our number one goal is to help families to remain stable and function during this pandemic. We can help with managing emotional distress, we can help with developing coping strategies, and we can help with problem resolution skills.

If you would like to continue to support our mission and keep the door open to continue to serve children and families, please consider donating to  Support Giving – Family Counseling | Addiction Counseling | Easton PA (newdayinhometss.org)

  • We are now a provider member of  PA Council of Children, Youth  & Family Services (PCCYF) .
  • We have partnered with a few organizations within the community.
  • We were able to purchase food for families and provide gift cards for groceries to those in need.

September 28, 2021

We are happy to announce that our organization was selected to participate in the 2022 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community! It is an honor and a privilege to be part of this event to assist New Day In-Home TSS with raising funds to support children, youth, and families.

As you may or may not know, the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community raises money to reinforce and support the excellent work of local nonprofit organizations and to ensure that 100% of the funds raised goes directly to the participating nonprofits.

Your participation and donations will help support our organization to assist children, youth, and families with their basic needs (e.g., food, clothing, assistance with utility bills, childcare, school supplies).

Helping families to meet their basic needs will assist them with not having to worry about the next day concerning their concrete needs.

The walk is anticipated to be on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at DeSales University (Lehigh Valley).

Thanking you in advance for showing commitment to children, youth, and families to assist them with meeting their basic needs.

Please look out for additional information that will be coming your way!

Once again, thank you for your support!

2020

New Day- In Home Treatment & Supportive Services (TSS) is a private, nonprofit community-based organization that was established in 2019 to help families and children, and other individuals who are facing challenges to become empowered and to improve their quality of life. It was classified by the U.S, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)(3) organization in January 2020. Since then, we have effectively begun our journey in making a difference and creating a positive impact on individuals’ lives through service, support and building with them their new day.
As we began our journey, we did not realize just like many others that our world would begin to turn upside down due to COVID-19. As we faced these critical times hard to deal with, we realized the importance of looking at what is going well instead of what is going wrong. This new change has brought many of us so closer together. This shows that we as humans have the power and ability to bounce back. Through all of this, New Day- In Home TSS continues to support the community while acknowledging their inner strength.
We would like to take this opportunity to share our notable accomplishments in the mist of COVID-19.

  • We were able to partner with Children, Youth & Families.
  • We received referrals from Children, Youth & Families, the Child Advocacy Center, and a school and shelter.
  • Although we do not receive emergency funds to assist families with their concrete needs and reinforcement, we were able to minimally assist the families.
  • We were able to receive a grant to further enhance the provision of services to the community.
  • We were able to connect with Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, Inc. to receive domestic violence training for our staff.
  • Although we are an organization with little funds, we were happy to donate to Turning Point to support victims of domestic violence.
  • We donated school supplies to schools to help children who are in need.
  • We were able to expand our office space and will be moving in 2021.

Expressions from clients:

“I appreciate the knowledge the services have provided me with. I appreciate the willingness to work on a schedule that best suits us as a whole family”.

“As a result of the counseling received, my family is communicating better.”
“My family learned on using positive words to encourage the children to have better behavior.”

Acknowledgements:

We would like to thank the Board of Directors, staff, IT, CPA and our clinical supervisor for their unwavering commitment and dedication.
We are very appreciative of everyone that supported us through AmazonSmile.
We would like to thank the Borough of Wilson for highlighting New Day- In Home TSS in their newsletter.

We are forever grateful for the opportunity to work with and to make a positive difference to all whom we have the privilege to serve.
